The Civis Trust

    The Civis Trust

The Civis Trust is the not for profit arm of Civis, an established agency working in the UK with a substantial track record in training, organisational development and research in the NGO sector in the UK. The Civis Trust was established in 1996 and formally registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee with charitable status in 1997.

The Civis Trust provides high quality consultancy services tailored to meet the specialist requirements of individual agencies. Staff have a range of expertise including skills in service development planning, knowledge of service delivery issues and financial management and accountancy skills. The Trust also undertakes a considerable number of research projects ranging from needs assessments, to large national and international studies which have a wide impact on operational policy.

The Civis Trust, to date, has provided management support and training for 160 charities and other voluntary organisations in the UK and abroad. The philosophy of working for both agencies is firmly based on the transfer of expertise to enable voluntary sector agencies to improve their skill base and organisational capacity. We have a strong record of working with black and minority ethnic community organisations in the UK and have undertaken over 80 projects for such groups through the Trust.

The role of The Civis Trust can be divided into four strands:

    • Advice to small charities. There is a regular flow of this work which is undertaken by any of the consultants
    • National research and good practice guides
    • International work on voluntary sector development
